Psychotherapy
Do you want to work with Mark on a weekly basis using the theory of Transactional Analysis psychotherapy to change your life for the better?
Psychotherapy can be of help in many different areas of your life including but not limited to:
addiction, alcohol issues, anxiety, attachment issues, coping with cancer, dealing with bereavement and loss, depression, eating disorders, emotional issues - including anger, guilt, sadness, worry, shame, insomnia, learning to live with disease or disability, living with chronic pain, panic attacks, phobias, public speaking anxiety, relationship difficulties, religious or spiritual problems, post traumatic stress disorders, problem-solving, sexual disorders, work - life balance, working through issues of abuse - the list is probably endless.
Mark offers short and long term psychotherapy using the theory of Transactional Analysis as the underpinning model.
Mark is currently in TA training as a transactional analyst
Mark offers one off introductory sessions as well as ongoing support and chooses not to work with more than 10 clients at any one time and this ensures the focus of the relationship.
Most issues can be resolved during short term work (20 sessions or less over a period of 6 months - roughly).
And sometimes this is just not possible, meaning longer term support is needed. This is expecially true of addiction work and ongoing weight loss / fitness goals that psychotherapy can provide the support for.
Because Mark is in private practice there is no cut off point - if you choose to keep coming, Mark will continue working with you.
Psychotherapy is a process and one in which you can get better - if that is what you want.
"Transactional Analysis is a theory of personality and a systematic psychotherapy for personal growth and personal change." ITAA definition

Mark discussing Transactional Analysis theory with world renowned psychotherapist Fanita English
As a theory of personality it helps us understand - "what makes us tick"
As a theory of communication it helps us understand how we communicate and more importantly, how we also mis-communicate.
It offers a theory of child development and may explain why we do the things we do - even when they are painful and we feel stuck.
TA as it is known can be used with individuals, families, groups and couples.
Transactional Analysis is a powerful tool for change and rests on some wonderful philosophical assumptions:
People are OK
Everyone has the capacity to think
People decide their own destiny, and these decisions can be changed
And following on from these assumptions are two basic principles which Mark uses in his everyday practice:
Contractual methodology and open communication.
In real terms this means that we co-create an environment which is safe and we take joint responsibility for achieving whatever change it is you decide to make. It also means Mark will teach you and encourage you to learn how to get better.
As a client, you contract with Mark what you want to change and what you are willing to do in order to bring about this change. Mark, as the psychotherapist will confirm that he is willing to help you in your change process and will use his professional skills to the best of his ability and that you both agree to the terms of the contract.
Once the contract has been achieved then you can discuss terminating the psychotherapy or contracting for more change.
People do change - and change is achieved not by insight into old patterns of thinking, feeling and doing!
But by actively becoming aware of these patterns and choosing to do something different - thinking differently, feeling differently and behaving in a new way.
Mark is co-creator of "The Aware Sequence" a Transactional Analysis model based upon the work of Dr Paul Ware & Dr Taibi Kahler - two of the nicest and cleverest people Mark has had the fortune to meet.

DR Taibi Kahler, Quentin St Clair (co-creator with Mark), Mark the Hypnotherapist and Dr Paul Ware at a workshop presentation of "The Aware Sequence & the ChoicesMap".
So what does all this actually mean? Basically - if you want some support and a friendly person to help you then why not contact Mark.
Mark can help for real.
