My son Max doing a bit of football therapy and winning everything!
Putting a bit of effort into what you already have can pay massive dividends - here is my son Max winning 5 trophies and making me a very proud father - (did you spot the can of Irn Bru? My secret weapon in Max's success - that and all the hours of focused practice).
Sometimes the relationship we need to look at may be in the past and we are unaware that this is affecting our ongoing current relationships and sometimes it is the relationships we have in the present.
Always, we can have a better relationship with ourselves and this is what the focus of my work covers - how you can have a better life and create better relationships today - simple and very effective.
If you decide to work with me, your life will get better because that is what the focus of the self hypnosis is about - getting better.
Working with me is like having the best friend you always wanted. Like having someone who is genuinely interested in your current and ongoing health and wellbeing for real and who will tell it like it really is.
For me - the relationship is the therapy. The content is how we co-create the change needed - better relationships in every area of your life. Simple and easy to do - Focus + Re-evaluation + Persistence.
If this sounds like something that may benefit you then contact me and create a new relationship that will help you today.
I will help you get better and will do this with a 100% confidential contractual agreement.

Why not begin to practice with remembering your happiest and proudest moments and I will share with you why something as simple as this can change your life for the better.
If you work with me you will learn some of the most powerful techniques in getting better and also share some of my favourite moments like this one below.

For some people it is not about cure / setting goals or even achieving something - it may just be about having some support or someone to talk something through (who is impartial and qualified to help).
Sometimes the time spent is just coming to terms with something - such as the loss of a loved one, dealing with chronic disease or learning how to cope with a life threatening issue such as cancer - or maybe someone you care about has cancer and you just don't know what to do and need someone to help process this.
And sometimes it is just about having someone who will actually listen without making judgements or comments or trying to fix things when all you want or need is a bit of space.
KNOWLEDGE
My specialism is teaching people how the brain and memory work through the tool of self hypnosis and I present this skill at national and international psychotherapy conferences because it works.
I have been really successful with addiction issues, weight issues and many other things and have noticed that the difference (that makes the difference in the long term) is always self-hypnosis and that is what I do - I teach self-hypnosis so that you can gain the skill to create your own changes.
If you are interested in learning more about hypnosis read my hypnosis page and buy a couple of books on the subject.

Mark Stipanovsky discussing "How to Cure".
Psychotherapy helps you understand the trances that have already been created in your life and this helps you to make sense of things which may be causing you distress, illness and maybe even threatening your life through addiction, self harm and suicidal thoughts.
Self hypnosis is how the brain works and a lot of the work is just de-hypnotising the negativity that we have already unconsciously processed.
So do you want to learn how to cure yourself or just learn how to heal?
Because with self-hypnosis and psychotherapy you can begin the process of getting better today.
Knowledge is power - and the power of the mind is the most powerful thing we possess. Learning to focus and harness this power creates amazing things - health - wealth and a beautiful environment.
I can co-create the relationship you need to unleash this power and teach you how to use it safely and effectively.
CONFIDENTIALITY
All sessions are 100% confidential and so is my client list. I do a lot of work with addiction and most people want their privacy respected and confidentiality guaranteed.
I will sign any non-disclosure agreements if necessary and guarantee the confidentiality of all work / sessions undertaken.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is counselling / psychotherapy?
According to the Oxford Dictionary of Psychology, counselling is the practice or profession of applying psychological theories and communication skills to a client's personal problems, concerns or aspirations. Some forms of counselling also include advice giving, but the dominant ethos is one of providing facilitation without directive guidance.
Psychotherapy is the treatment of mental disorders and allied problems by psychological methods. All therapists should also be in clinical supervision, attend ongoing training and national and international conferences to ensure they are up-to-date with latest good practice. Hypnotherapy is a form of psychotherapy.
How much does it cost?
Fees for one-to-one sessions are normally on a sliding scale and can range from £45.00 per session to £500.00+ per session depending on various factors including your income, therapist, location etc.
Average price is London is between £45 - £250.00 per session.
Mark’s normal fees are £195.00 per 50 minute session.
Do you always charge for counselling and psychotherapy?
The simple answer is yes – however I have one day a week set aside for therapy at the lower end of my sliding scale (£45.00 and there is a waiting list).
What if I cannot attend an appointment?
All sessions are paid for in advance and you will be charged whether you attend or not. This is to ensure you understand the implications of agreeing to meet at a regular time and on a regular basis. I will help you to help yourself and this includes setting appropriate boundaries and responsibilities.
What if I need to speak to someone in between sessions or at night?
I can provide a 24 hour crisis intervention service to ensure you will always have support. I will refer you to the most appropriate specialist service if I cannot or do not have the specialism within our current staff team.
Is your psychotherapy service confidential?
Of course, and I will explain the difference between confidentiality and secrecy. I will also ask you to sign a contract (if appropriate)and if you have a confidentiality policy I will also sign that.
I have worked with people from all walks of life because mental health, addiction and trauma normally do not discriminate and unfortunately some times the higher net worth / higher paid the person the is, the more issues they sometimes have to deal with.
Certain professions carry greater risk - modelling involves more issues around cocaine and sex working – working within the media means that unsocial hours are the “norm” and also the stimulants that go with that way of working - being a publican involves more issues around alcohol and divorce - art and creativity involves more issues around heroin - working for the Police, Fire Service or Social Services may involve much more issues of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder than average - unfortunately.
As we all get older we will all face more issues of bereavement and loss - and having to deal with the reality of our own death.
How long will my therapy last?
How long is a piece of string? Therapy is highly individual and may last one session or many years. There is no average and your problems, concerns and aspirations are unique to you. An individual session is normally 50 minutes. This session can be held on a regular basis daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly depending on your needs and the contract you create with me.
Do I need Therapy?
Only you can answer that but sometimes people just need that extra bit of support especially if any of the following may have happened or is happening in your life:
• You currently spend 5 out of 7 days feeling unhappy or sad
• Regularly cannot sleep at night / or have put on or lost a lot of weight
• Are the primary carer of a parent or a child and the idea crosses your mind that you may want to hit that person
• Are in a relationship and you want to hit the other person
• You have recently placed one of your parents or in-laws in a nursing home and feel extremely guilty
• Have just lost someone or something (such as a job or a partner)
• Have just been diagnosed with a chronic or acute medical illness
• You can no longer prioritize what is most important in your life
• Feel that you can no longer manage your stress - Also remember that you do not have to be "sick" to benefit from therapy.
Another question Mark and his team are normally asked - Will my health insurance cover the cost of our therapy?
Unfortunately, we are a complementary service at the top end of the market - so to speak and health insurance does not cover our services.
We have decided to offer a premium service outside of orthodox medical interventions rather than compromise our integrity or our own professional development.
Also because Mark and his team may sometime have to come to you - the hourly rate may seem disproportionate when compared to someone who sits in a GP's practice all day and sees 8 clients per day.
Depending on the intensity of the work we do - we may only see one client in an average day. This ensures that we are capable of giving you our full attention.
Mark and the team also carry out lots of behavioural experiments with clients and these take longer than your average 50 minute session. (Please see next section for a definition of a behavioural experiment).
What is a behavioural experiment?
If you have a fear of flying for example - how will we know your fear has gone unless you actually get on a plane? We may contract with you to actually fly somewhere and be there supporting you to overcome your phobia.
Lots of thinking, feeling and behaving strategies are called "safety behaviours" because you think they are keeping you safe from your fear / anxiety / worry but they are actually part of the problem because they also "stop" you doing things.
Uncovering "safety behaviours" is a massive step in getting better - but you need to define what better is - once you begin to understand what better would mean we can support you in testing out your new thinking, feeling and behaving safely.
For any other questions you may want answered please contact Mark via text, email or telephone.
