ALCOHOL ADDICTION

This is our "cultural" favourite addiction...

If you are reading this page - then probably you or someone you care about has a problem.

Alcohol addiction has given birth to one of the biggest self help groups in the world - AA or as it is more frequently known - Alcoholics Anonymous.

And this is where most people turn to for help - and it's free...

If AA hasn't worked - or you want to get better differently - then read on...

I can help overcome alcohol addiction.

My treatment plan consists of:

one clinical assessment

choice of detox or to work with me in "active addiction"

initial redecision work

ongoing support sessions on a daily or weekly basis for a contracted period of time

teaching sessions of self hypnosis

And a bit of fun...

So - keep reading.

Violence normally involves alcohol and yet not everybody who drinks becomes violent.

Crashing cars can sometimes involve alcohol.

Cheating on your wife or your husband or partner can sometimes involve alcohol - and sometimes not.

Having a terrible relationship can sometimes involve alcohol - and sometimes the relationship is terrible anyway.

self medicating and self soothing can involve alcohol - especially chronic pain - grief - emotional vulnerability and this is why we have a problem with alcohol.

Alcohol "feels good"...

Not always - but more often than not.

Alcohol numbs pain...

Not always - but more often than not.

Alcohol improves - and sometimes even creates sexual excitement and opportunities...

These are some of the reasons why it's so addictive...

And why people are initially in "denial" about it being a problem.

If you hit someone else - it's their fault. If someone hits you - you don't feel it.

If you "choose" to be unfaithful - it's the drink making you act...

If you crash your car - you can buy another one...

And if you are "forced to stop" drinking - you feel miserable - and will be prone to lapse and binge - which according to some experts - is part of the "getting better" process.

What if drinking irresponsibly was a learning issue - rather than a disease?

What if alcohol addiction was just a series of bad choices?

What if not all types of alcohol turned you into a monster?

What if you "chose" when and where you drank alcohol - if ever?

What if there was more than one way of overcoming alcohol addiction - and you just hadn't stumbled upon the answers you needed?

I can sit and discuss "Alcohol Addiction" and also different options available to you (if you have a problem), to your partner - if they are worried about the one they love - and I will do all of this confidentially.

I can refer you to more appropriate specialists - or you can choose to work with me.

I can provide information on treatment centres all over the world - and can encourage you to choose to get better - anywhere in the world...

And yet - the reality is - you can't get away from you - wherever in the world you choose to get better - make sure - it's inside your own body - because unless you relearn to use your brain again - you're in trouble...

Doesn't matter how much money you have - there are a few basic fundamentals that will get you better - and they don't cost the earth...

Gratitude is a skill - practice it...

Feeling good - is a feeling. Learn how to create and own your feelings - both good and bad...

Daily exercise - simple stuff that works wonders...

A daily journal - listen to yourself again - dispute your unhelpful thinking - write down what getting better actually means for you...

Learn to be nice to yourself - it might not cure you - but your life will become nicer...

And remember - thousands of people make better decisions every day - and they get better...

So can you...
